Takino Autumn Colors 2025

September 13 (Sat.)–October 26 (Sun.)

Takino Suzuran Hillside Park is a Sapporo's suburban leisure spot which is rich in nature. Every time we visit there, we can find different seasonal flowers, plants and trees. In October, in the Country Garden, reddish, fluffy Kokia welcomes you. Its rounded shape makes our heart warm. Perhaps, cosmos can be enjoyed in early October though the flowering time has passed. Takino no Mori East Zone is filled with red and brown leaves of maples. Enjoy leaf foliage carpets. Wild nature is spreading on the other side of the park. Collaboration of the Ashiribetsu Fall and colorful leaf foliage is so photogenic. Join a free guided tour to take a trek in the park, and be amazed at the splendid fall world. Admission: ÂĄ450 for age 15 and over, free for age 14 and under, ÂĄ210 for age 65 and over.

Kokusai Ski Resort Autumn Festival

October 1 (Wed.)–19 (Sun.)

Celebrate the beauty of fall at the Autumn Festival in Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort. Take the Koyo-gondola for a view of the colorful autumn leaves. Round-trip tickets: ÂĄ1,500 for jr. high and over, ÂĄ800 for elem., free for preschoolers. Enjoy delicious food, live street performances, and games.

Sapporo Mirai Jazz

The Sapporo Mirai Jazz, rooted in Hokkaido will be held at Art Hall of Sapporo Art Park. Enjoy jazz and popular music performances by Hokkaido’s musicians. Eleven jazz bands will perform each day. Tickets: ¥2,000/day for jr. high and over, free for elem. and under.

Sapporo Marathon

October 5 (Sun.)

The Sapporo Marathon, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will be held on Oct. 5 (Sun.). It is a fun event in which diverse members of the community can take part in. It also aims to become as sustainable as possible, so runners should bring their own cups in order to cut down on disposable plastic cups. The half marathon will start at 9:30 a.m. at Makomanai Sekisuiheim Stadium in Minami-ku. There will be traffic restrictions from 8:35 to 11:20 a.m. along the route.

The 20th Sapporo Short Fest 2025

October 10 (Fri.)–13 (Mon.)

In the 20th Sapporo Short Fest 2025, about 2,400 works were entered from 91 countries and regions including Japan. These were created by professional and amateur directors. The 70 short films are separated into the International Competition, the National Competition, and the Special Program. Each program has some 30-min. short films.

Sapporo Recycle Art

October 24 (Fri.)–26 (Sun.)

Artworks made with recycled materials by artists from elementary school students to adults will be selected and exhibited at the Sapporo Ekimae-dori Underground Walkway, Kita 3-jo Square. The artworks are made from plastic bottles, clothes, newsprint and other such materials. Winners of the best recycled artworks chosen will be awarded prizes by the judges.

Autumn Illuminations

October 24 (Fri.)–November 3 (Mon.)

Autumn Illuminations will be held in Nakajima Park. The ginkgo tree avenue, Shobu Pond, and Hohei-kan will be lit up at night. The entrance fee for the Japanese Garden is ÂĄ500. Visitors enter the Japanese Garden separately from 5:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Choose the date and time, and buy online tickets.

The 30th Anniversary Shiroi Koibito Park Halloween Events

Shiroi Koibito Park is holding its 30th Anniversary Halloween events. Enjoy Halloween sweets, workshops, a haunted house, and more. Disaster Prevention Day for Foreign Nationals

Learn about a hazard map and prepare for disasters at home. Visit the Sapporo Citizens’ Disaster Prevention Center by a chartered bus and experience an earthquake simulation, fire extinguishing and more. After that, move to an evacuation shelter and learn about emergency supplies. Try stretching exercises to prevent economy class syndrome. Adm.: free. Free Professional Consultations for Foreign Residents

The Sapporo Help Desk for Foreign Residents offers free professional consultations for foreign residents.
